Join the project

There are only twenty-four hours in the day. What are you doing with yours?

While the world says, "Time is of the essence" we are curious to understand a person's essence given a particular moment in time. The Essence of the Time project was created to give people an opportunity to capture and communicate the essence of a single day. Is your day full of passions or projects, work or working out, meetings or meaning, stressors or successes?

Simply, keep track of the events of a single day, any day -- weekend, work day, vacation day, good day, bad day, uneventful day, hectic day. It does not matter. It's our day. Do not miss a single moment. Track the important and the mundane. Track the spectacular and the annoying. Track the people and places with whom and with which you interact. Keep the timecard close at hand.

When the day is complete -- morning or night depending on your schedule -- turn the timecard over and create a picture of your day. This is open-ended. You can the data (events, activities, people and places) and interpret it as you please. How would you visually identify that day?

Finally, at the bottom of the drawing place one word which describes your day. One word that will forever be connected to the day.

Drop your timecard in the mail. Complete another timecard if you like. We are collecting timecards from near and far. To keep up with the project and see timecards from others, visit www.essenceofthetime.com.
